The Australian dollar was near-unchanged after a quiet night of trade with US markets closed for the President's Day public holiday.

At 6.30am AEDT the local unit was trading at 102.96 US cents, a touch higher from 102.95 cents at yesterday’s local close.

Since 5pm AEDT yesterday the Australian dollar has traded between 102.75 US cents and 103.16 cents.
